Alek Wek new Face for Banana Republics Heritage.
I love wek, i've always been a fan, and after I read her book i admired her even more, I'm so glad to see our people coming forward, making it BIG especially in an industry ruled by the European, a lot of white models get so many big gigs , because it "sells more and more appeal ling" but we also happen to have a lot of dark skin models that are really good but you only see six of the popular black faces. Alek is one of the women I love so much, and i'm so happy that she got to be the new face of Banana Republics Heritage collection, it may be small to you but its huge for us.
Check out bananarepublic.com for the Heritage collection. i love fall colors.

Wild Spirits...
so, i'm always on etsy.com and i was looking for cool earings and i came accross Wild Spirits.
Its a family based business that makes these beautiful colorful feather earings. I'm not really the type of person that would rock feather earings, but i really like these 3 pieces.

One exciting thing is that they also sell feathers, so if you have a creative idea you can purchase some feathers and come up with something exciting and maybe you can just sell it etsy.com

SOPHIE THEALLET
My new FAVORITE designer.
First thing all her models were all black, to me thats a big deal, and i'm sure there were a lot of audiance members that found it "interesting" "shocking""odd" etc..the fact tha she has an all black show in an industry that is dominated by non black decision makers (white folks basically ). According to Theallet it her reasoning was not trying to set a political statement ,her focus was to make the clothes stand out more therefore she used dark skin to make the colors, and details within her collection POP. Personally, i think it was clever of her to use dark skinned models, because the clothes are AMAZING, the detailing really does stand out, BUT i have to say this has caused recognition to everybody that attended the show, and i'm sure its not going to be forgoten....this reminds me of Tracey Reese, she's known to put a lot of black models in her show.
